project: Game On!

Agency: Sweet Celebrations
Location: O’Fallon, MO

Agency Overview:gameon

Sweet Celebrations was founded in November 2013. This nonprofit organization serves the homeless community of the St. Louis and surrounding areas by providing birthday parties for children in local homeless shelters. The birthday parties include: a personalized birthday cake, ice cream, birthday gifts, birthday games, and goody bags for all of the birthday guests. Sweet Celebrations was founded on the inspiration of creating  meaningful volunteer opportunities for children in the community. Child “volunteers” are always welcome to attend the parties and be a part of the celebration crafted for the children in the homeless shelters. They may think they are just playing, but in reality they are helping brighten the life of a vulnerable child. In 2014 alone, Sweet Celebrations threw 150 birthday parties for at-risk and vulnerable children in homeless shelters in the St. Louis area.

Project Details:
project AVA is proud to partner with Sweet Celebrations and thrilled to introduce project: Game On!

Project: Game On! will support the enhancement of the birthday game component that Sweet Celebrations holds for the homeless children they serve. The Sweet Celebrations team puts careful thought into each party and works hard to make every child feel unique and special on their birthday, regardless of the child’s current circumstances. The organization’s wish of being able to tailor the games played at each birthday party, directly to the child and the theme that the child chose, will now be a reality. This might be a special Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle themed game for “Leonardo” or a Frozen themed game for “Queen Elsa.” Through the funding of this project, project AVA and its donors will help Sweet Celebrations provide an even more memorable experience for these children for the remainder of the 150 parties that are currently scheduled for 2015.

As always, we appreciate your support to help fund this, and other project AVA efforts in our communities.
